VETASSESS is Australia’s largest skills assessment provider, authorised by the Australian Government.
Professional Occupation
To be eligible for the VETASSESS general occupation skills assessment, your occupation must be on the General Professional Occupations list.
The requirements for each occupation do differ so it is therefore advisable to carefully examine the requirements for your occupation before you apply. Typically, you must have completed a qualification in an area that is extremely relevant to the selected occupation and have at least a year of post-qualification work experience at a level of proficiency that is extremely relevant to the nominated occupation.
“Highly relevant field of study” denotes that your major field of study fits the description of the job you are applying for. In evaluating this criterion, VETASSESS will take the following into account:
- Whether your qualification has a major field of study which VETASSESS has identified as being suitable for the occupation in Australia
- The depth (progression) and breadth of study in the major.
- The employment outcomes of the qualification in the country concerned.
- Course requirements – including whether any thesis work, major projects, internships/work placements were required in order for the qualification to be achieved.
“Highly relevant employment” implies that the major tasks undertaken in your employment should closely match the job description in ANZSCO. VETASSESS will consider the following:
- The employment must be full-time employment (20 hours per week).
- The employment must be paid work.
- The employment must be skilled. That is, your work must be undertaken after you have completed the relevant qualifications, and the main duties performed must be at the required level as prescribed by ANZSCO.

To apply for the skills assessment, you must prepare a list of documents. These documents must be coloured scans of the original documents. If the documents are not in English, they must be translated.

- Change of name (If Applicable)
