Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482)

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) this temporary visa allows an employer to sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position in Australia.

The TSS visa (subclass 482) has 3 different streams;

  • Short term stream – up to 2 years
  • Medium term stream – up to 4 years
  • Labour Agreement Stream

Short term and Medium term streams both allow employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker.

Labour Agreement stream is for skilled workers nominated by employers who have a Labour Agreement. It lets you live and work in Australia temporarily.

General eligibility for the TSS visa (subclass 482) includes;

  • Be nominated to work in an occupation that is on the relevant Skilled Occupation List.
  • Have at least 2 years experience in the nominated occupation.
  • May need to undergo a skills assessment.
  • Only working for your sponsor for the duration of your visa.
