Task & Responsibilities

Responsible for the room management (including children, programming, staff and safety) your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Plan for the long term, short term and spontaneous needs of the children, using observations and knowledge in relation to interests, skills, abilities, background and culture.
  • Prepare and conduct activities for, and with, the children.
  • Be responsible for the supervision and wellbeing of children in your space as well as supporting others where required.
  • Implement agreed behaviour management strategies and techniques and exercise as required. 
  • Establish and maintain suitable developmental records and observations based on the daily routine of the child and on Centre systems and procedures.
  • Attend to the health and safety of each child and ensure that a safe, clean and hygienic environment exists at all times
  • Develop, lead and be responsible for the implementation and reflection of the programming in consultation with your team. 
  • Be responsible for developing specific individual planning, responsive to the needs, interests and development of the children in the group
  • Take responsibility for the rooms’ cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and resources, allocating duties as required.
  • Plan and implement methods of establishing positive partnerships, networks and relationships with the parents and local community. 
  • Attend Parent Meetings or information nights when they arise and be available for parents daily for discussion and communication of information about the needs of each individual child. 
  • Administer medications as per Centre policy. 
  • Maintain Centre records as required for room routines, licensing, accreditation, time sheets and other administrative tasks set out by management. 
Qualification & Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:

  •  An AQF Certificate III including at least 2 years on the job training, an AQF Certificate IV, or a minimum of 3 years recent and relevant experience if no formal qualifications.
  • Demonstrable experience in all above responsibilities, including planning, staff management, safety management and the provision of high-quality care.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, interacting respectfully at all times.
  • A passion for children.
  • A passion for early childhood education and creating nurturing, inclusive spaces.
  • A commitment to integrating nature, sustainability, and play-based learning into the curriculum.
  • The ability to work as a part of a dynamic team, adapt, collaborate, and a willingness to grow personally and professionally.
