More opportunites for Skilled Migrants in Tasmania
Good news for skilled migrants, the Australian Government has provided an additional interim allocation of 450 nomination places to the Tasmanian Government while the full 2025–26 program year quotas are being finalised.
This new allocation includes:
- 300 places for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa
- 150 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa
The 2025–26 Tasmanian Skilled Migration Program officially opened for new Registrations of Interest (ROIs) on 14 October 2025. At first, invitations were limited to Gold Pass candidates, but with this extra allocation, weekly invitation rounds will now include Gold, Green, and Orange Pass categories.
Each week, the Migration Tasmania website will post updates showing:
- The number of invitations issued
- The lowest scores invited
- The remaining nomination places available
- The total number of ROIs on hand
Tasmania’s final allocation for the 2025–26 program year is expected to be confirmed soon.
Common questions we receive from Applicants
Question: I meet more than one priority attribute. Can I claim all of them?
Answer: Yes, as long as each one accurately describes your situation. Be sure to read the wording carefully. For example, if an attribute says your employment is “more than six months but less than 12 months,” you can’t claim it if you’ve worked for 15 months. Incorrect claims may lead to your nomination being declined.
Question: I’ve been living in Tasmania for four years, which attribute should I claim?
Answer: You can only claim one attribute that best fits your situation. For example, if you have lived in Tasmania for four but not quite five years, you can clain the attribute “You have lived in Tasmania continuously for at least four but less than five years.”
Question: I qualify for more than one pathway, which one should i choose?
Answer: You should submit an ROI (registration of Interest) for the pathway that gives you the highest priority attritube score. Migration Tasmania invites the highest scoring candidates and does not prefer one pathway over another.
What this means for Skilled Migrants
This interim allocation means more opportunities for skilled professionals to secure a nomination through Tasmania’s program. It’s a great time for eligibe applicants, both onshore and offshore, to review their ROI, update their details and ensure their claims align with the updated attributes.
