Migration Tasmania Application Gateway is now open !

We’re excited to announce that the Migration Tasmania Application Gateway is now open for new Registrations of Interest (ROI). If you’re interested in state nomination for Tasmania, this is your first step.

What’s Changed?

New settings and processing rules are in place. We strongly encourage all applicants to read the updated guidelines we have listed below, you can also check out the website here – https://www.migration.tas.gov.au/

One important note: nomination confirmation cannot occur until the Australian Government finalises state/territory allocations. So even if you register now, approval depends on those allocations.

2025–26 Health & Allied Health Occupations Now Eligible

A major update is in the Subclass 190 Tasmanian Skilled Employment pathway. Several health and allied health roles are now eligible for nomination after just six months of employment. The list includes:

Social & Welfare Professionals (272 series)

  • Clinical Psychologist (272311)

  • Psychotherapist (272314)
  • Psychologists nec (272399)
  • Social Worker (272511)

  • Enrolled Nurse (411411)

If your occupation appears on this list, you may be eligible for nomination under this pathway.

Remote Work & the Tasmanian Established Resident Pathway

Another new provision is for remote work. Here’s how it works:

  • You must live in Tasmania.
  • You perform your role for a company outside Tasmania or overseas.
  • Your tasks can include digital, consulting, software, design, or advisory work.

For instance, a software developer in Hobart working for a U.S. or interstate company qualifies under this definition. However:

  • If you work for an out-of-state company but deliver services to Tasmanian clients from a Tasmanian worksite, you do not qualify as “remote” under this program.
  • Those roles are considered part of the Tasmanian business landscape.

Next Steps

  1. Read all the updated information.
  2. Submit your Registration of Interest via the Application Gateway portal.
  3. Stay updated, once government allocations are confirmed, nominations may proceed.
