Carer visa (subclass 836) is an onshore permanent visa that allows you to stay in Australia to care for someone with a long-term medical condition who has no reasonable access to care options in Australia. For this visa you must;
- Be in Australia when you apply and when the decision is made.
- Be a carer for your Australian relative who needs care or a member of their family who lives with them and needs care and who has no reasonable access to care options in Australia.
- Be sponsored by an eligible sponsor.
Carer visa (subclass 116) is an offshore visa that allows you to move to Australia to care for someone with a long-term medical condition. They must have no reasonable access to care options in Australia.
For this visa you must meet certain requirements, these are as follows:
- Be outside Australia when you apply and when the decision is made.
- Be sponsored by your relative or their partner for your first 2 years in Australia.
- Provide care for a relative, or a member of their family who lives with them, who has no reasonable access to care options in Australia.
