What has Victoria announced?

On the 21st of November 2025, the Victorian Government confirmed the full allocation for its 2025–26 Skilled visa nomination program. Below are the details.

Overview of the visa pathways

  1. Skilled Nomination visa (subclass 190) – Permanent visa from the approval date, allows you to live and work anywhere in victoria. you must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirements and Victoria’s nomination criteria for the 190 visa. This option is attractive for skilled migrants who want long-term stability in Melbourne or other parts of Victoria.
  2. Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) – 5 year provisional visa, you must live and work in regional Victoria, this visa gives you a pathway to permanent residency (if you meet the requirements). This pathway is ideal if you are open to regional life and want to boost your chances of nomination.

What if you have already submitted an ROI?

If you already have an active Registration of Interest (ROI) with Victoria:
Your ROI will remain valid for the 2025–26 program year, you do not need to submit a new ROI unless your details have changed (for example, new English test, new job, new qualification, or change in location).

Are you a new applicant?

If you have not yet applied, you must complete three main steps:

  1. Check you meet eligibility requirements for your chosen visa (190 or 491) with Home Affairs, and for Victoria’s state nomination criteria.
  2. Submit a SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI), this is done via the Australian Governments SkillSelect System.
  3. Submit a (ROI) via the Live in Melbourne Portal, you select whether you are applying for 190, 491 or both (if eligible).

Only applicants who meet the criteria and submit both an EOI and ROI can be considered for Victorian nomination.
