Labour Agreements & DAMAs

Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) are a formal arrangement between the Commonwealth of Australia and a Designated Area Representative (DAR). A DAR may be a state or territory government or regional body.

A Labour Agreement is an agreement between a business and the Australian Government to facilitate the sponsorship of an overseas worker(s) where no appropriate Australian worker(s) can be found. The business will need to satisfactorily demonstrate to the Department of Home Affairs (the Department) that there is a genuine labour shortage of a particular occupation and they are committed to employing Australian workers wherever possible.
